About Enterprise Computing & Service Management (ECSM)


Haas Enterprise Computing & Service Management supports over 3,000 computing accounts on behalf of the faculty, staff, and students associated with the School's five degree programs. Computer customer services are provided by three teams, each serving a specific set of Haas customers: 1) students, 2) faculty and PhD candidates, and 3) administrative units and program offices, including alumni relations, executive development, and organized research units affiliated with Haas. Each team is headed by an assistant director who coordinates development and major projects, and dedicated support staff to handle routine requests. A fourth team is dedicated to supporting and upgrading back-end systems by attending to the School's general infrastructure needs, including networks and server hardware, software, installation,

The hub of computing services is the Bakar Computer Center. Here students have access to approximately 170 computers for student use, including a 45-seat computer lab classroom dedicated to hands-on learning, a multimedia lab, and onsite group study rooms. The majority of computers are current Dell PCs equipped with CDROM, CDRW, Zip drives, and multimedia capabilities. Each computer is loaded with business and statistical applications, communications, and multimedia utilities. Non-graduate students may opt to pay an annual user fee to gain access to the Haas network during peak hours, group study room reservations, and equipment loan privileges.

The Haas School is hard-wired for easy laptop connections, including the Library, classrooms, and student lounges. ECSM is an active partner with UC Berkeley's campus wide wireless network, "AirBears". Wireless network coverage can be found throughout the Business school as well as several other locations campus wide.
